Dubliner announced as finalist for multiple industry awards…

Methven’s Dubliner Irish Bar & Restaurant received two sets of good news this week. On Monday, they were shortlisted as finalists in the Hospitality New Zealand national Awards for Excellence in the Best Neighbourhood Bar & Eatery and also the Excellence in Marketing category. On Thursday, they were announced as finalists in the Champion Canterbury Awards in the Tourism/Retail/Hospitality – Small Enterprise Category.
Speaking about the news, owners Gary and Karen Manning said, “It’s been a bit of a whirlwind week really. We’re absolutely thrilled to be finalists in both award events and would like to thank our team and awesome customers for their ongoing support. We’re very excited to by attending both events as finalists in October.”
The Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence honours the achievement of hospitality and accommodation businesses that have performed exceptionally throughout the year. Entrants are judged over an eight-week period by a panel of independent industry professionals, who assess every entry on a range of commercial and operational criteria – including staff training and human resources, customer service, food and beverages, marketing and promotional activities, environmental initiatives and the demonstration of business growth. The finalists will then be mystery shopped to ensure what they say on paper is what they actually do in real life.
The Champion Canterbury Business Awards began in 2003 and have grown and developed over the past 15 years to provide one of the largest business awards ceremony in New Zealand, with over 1,330 guests in attendance. These awards recognise and celebrate the excellence, innovation, and success of businesses and not-for-profit organisations in the Canterbury region. The awards region is defined by the Canterbury Regional Council boundaries.
The Dubliner Irish Bar & Restaurant is owned and operated by Gary & Karen Manning and opened its doors at 116 Main Street, on Saturday 7th November 2015. This followed a very busy couple of months where local craftsmen were engaged to completely renovate the premises. The building retained its original features including the post-master’s lockers and the original bank safe along with some new features including an original NZ post office letter box.

Opening 7 days a week from 4.30pm the team work hard to deliver a warm & cosy atmosphere, complemented by great food, music, a great pint of stout and an extensive range of premium beers. The business in currently rated 1st of 23 restaurants in Methven/Mt Hutt Village on Tripadvisor.

David was born with a rare cardiac condition that significantly impacts his quality of life on a daily basis, often leading to minimal time at school, no sports and limited participation in social events with friends.
